PlayLive was a little project I did in 2006, which allowed one to wirelessly control Ableton Live with a Playstation Portable. It more or less mirrored the Ableton interface on the PSP. Pressing UI elements would send UDP messages over wifi to a small python server on the machine running Ableton. The server would convert the messages to MIDI messages which could then be used to control Ableton.
I was fortunate enough to get covered on the fabulous CreateDigitalMusic.com, as well as get a small mention in Computer Music Magazine:
It was a fun project, but is suffering from a bit of bit-rot at the moment (new versions of sony’s firmware haven’t been so kind to it). I’m releasing the code for it here mainly for historical interest, and if anyone wants to try to get it running on newer PSP software. As an extra bonus, here’s an earlier version too: PSP2MIDI (I think you can guess what it might do).
